Corsi's reported cancellation of scheduled appearance on "pro-White" radio show leaves unanswered questions
Obama Nation author Jerome Corsi's reported cancellation of a scheduled appearance on the "pro-White" radio show Political Cesspool because of a change in "travel plans" raises questions, including why he has previously appeared on the "pro-White" radio show, why he was scheduled to appear again, whether he intends to reschedule, and whether he is willing to publicly condemn the show. Savage: "America is being overrun by an invasion force from Mexico"
Michael Savage claimed that "America is being overrun by an invasion force from Mexico that'll soon take over the country." After noting a news report stating that immigration, higher birth rates among immigrants, and an aging white population are responsible in part for America's changing demographics, Savage stated: "And you think the gang-banger with baggy pants is going to pay for your retirement, you liberal fools? You think that they're going to pay for your housing in a senior citizens center? You psychotic liberals don't even know you're digging your own grave and throwing lime in there. All that's missing is the worm from the tequila bottle to go with it." Read More

Mary Matalin reportedly contradicts herself on role in publishing Obama smear book
Republican strategist Mary Matalin, head of Threshold Editions, which published Jerome Corsi's falsehood-laden book The Obama Nation, reportedly wrote in an email to Slate.com's Timothy Noah that her role at Threshold is "more akin to a consultant relative to the issue of potential interest among political readers." But according to her own website, Matalin "runs Threshold, a new conservative publishing imprint at Simon & Schuster" [emphasis added]. Read More

NY Times misrepresents Obama op-ed on Social Security
In a blog post, New York Times reporter Larry Rohter claimed that in a statement in a September 2007 op-ed that "[i]f we kept the payroll tax exactly the same but applied it to all earnings and not just the first $97,500, we could virtually eliminate the entire Social Security shortfall," Sen. Barack Obama was laying out his plan to address future shortfalls in Social Security. Rohter misrepresented the statement, claiming that Obama has now changed his position. But in the op-ed, Obama did not present removing the payroll tax income cap as his "plan" but, rather, as "[o]ne possible option." Read More

Kurtz and Mason falsely suggested it was "new information" that McCain "acknowledged" his responsibility for failed first marriage
On Reliable Sources, the Houston Chronicle's Julie Mason said of Sen. John McCain's statement that his "greatest moral failing" was "the failure of my first marriage": "I think McCain really did something extraordinary when -- the way he answered that question. ... So he put it out there, he acknowledged it. And he sort of inoculated himself against it." Howard Kurtz similarly said: "McCain has acknowledged that he was not faithful in his first marriage, but not necessarily before a national television audience." In fact, McCain has repeatedly "acknowledged" his responsibility for the breakup of his first marriage in his memoir, in interviews, and "before a national television audience." Read More

LA Times suggested Casey did not speak at 1992 convention because he was an "outspoken abortion opponent"
The Los Angeles Times suggested that then-Pennsylvania governor Robert Casey was denied a speaking role at the 1992 Democratic convention because he opposed abortion rights. In fact, other Democrats who opposed abortion rights spoke at the 1992 convention and at every convention since then, so Casey's opposition to abortion rights could not have been the sole reason he was not given a speaking role. Citing response about Hanoi prison, Politico characterized as "new" McCain's willingness to discuss his "biography"
During an appearance at Pastor Rick Warren's Saddleback Church, responding to a question about "the most gut-wrenching decision you've ever made," Sen. John McCain cited his refusal to accept an early release from a North Vietnamese prison camp. The Politico claimed that McCain's answer "shows the power of his biography, and a new willingness to publicly discuss it." In fact, McCain has repeatedly referred to his Vietnam war experiences and has specifically cited his refusal to accept an early release in a book, interviews, speeches, and campaign ads since 1999. Fox News' Sammon dismissed "nature of" Corsi falsehoods as "relatively innocuous"
On Hannity & Colmes, Bill Sammon said of falsehoods in Jerome Corsi's The Obama Nation: "Well, the nature of those inaccuracies, I think, is relatively innocuous. ... The first thing on that 40-page document that the Obama camp points out is that the author got their wedding date wrong -- the year of their wedding wrong. OK. Well, that's not a good thing, but it doesn't go to the ideology of Obama." In fact, Corsi's book also includes a number of falsehoods about Obama's policy positions. Read More
