Politico still ignoring Obama rebuttal to National Journal ranking, study's subjectivity
Ignoring its own interview with Sen. Barack Obama in which he criticized the National Journal study, the Politico uncritically reported Sen. John McCain's claim that Obama has the "most liberal voting record," without citing any criticism of the study or noting that the ranking was based on subjectively selected votes. Read More

CNN joined other media in reporting McCain's attempted wooing of Clinton supporters, but not his prior attacks
Reporting on Sen. MSNBC's Mitchell: Southwest Virginia "is real redneck, sort of, bordering on Appalachia country"
On the June 5 edition of MSNBC Live, anchor Andrea Mitchell noted Sen. Barack Obama's appearance that day in Bristol, Virginia, with former Virginia governor and Democratic Senate candidate Mark Warner and asserted, "Interesting images today. Barack Obama, Mark Warner in southwest Virginia. This is real redneck, sort of, bordering on Appalachia country. This is not the Northern Virginia, you know, sort of high-tech corridor. And these are voters that he would not logically be, you know, gravitating to. This is the beginning of a pivot." Read More
Without noting Obama's denunciation of Hamas, Wash. Post reported many Israelis "turned off" because Hamas "expressed a preference for Obama"
The Washington Post reported: "When a leader of Hamas, the Palestinian organization that the United States and Israel call a terrorist group, expressed a preference for Obama earlier this year, many Israelis were turned off even more." But the Post did not note that the Obama campaign reportedly responded: "Senator Obama has repeatedly rejected and denounced the actions of Hamas, a terrorist organization responsible for the deaths of many innocents, that is dedicated to Israel's destruction. As president, Obama will work with Israel to isolate terrorist groups like Hamas, target their resources, and support Israel's right and capability to defend itself from any attack." Read More

Yet the article did not note that during the race for the Republican nomination McCain reversed himself on the issue of immigration; he now says that "we've got to secure the borders first" and that he "would not" support the comprehensive immigration reform legislation he once sponsored. AP ignored Gates' support for diplomacy with Iran, reported Obama is "inexperienced in foreign affairs"
In an article discussing Sen. Barack Obama's and Sen. John McCain's positions on direct diplomacy with Iran, the AP reported that "Condoleezza Rice, a key player for eight years in the Bush administration's strategy to try to isolate Iran, told AIPAC on Tuesday that there is no point engaging Iran 'while they continue to inch closer to a nuclear weapon under the cover of talks.' " But, while noting that Madeleine Albright took a different position in a speech two years ago, the article did not note that President Bush's own secretary of defense, Robert Gates, has also reportedly said the United States should "sit down and talk" with Iran.
