Chicago bomb defendant is cleared

BBC

A jury in Miami has cleared one man of attempting to bomb FBI offices in the city and to blow up America's tallest building, the Sears Tower in Chicago.

A mistrial was declared on six other defendants, after the federal jury said it remained deadlocked following seven days of deliberations.

The seven were accused of being allied with al-Qaeda and wanting to wage a holy war against the US.

Their lawyers said the charges were the work of government informants.
