MP says Putin's visit to Iran will be turning point

Iran-Russia-Boroujerdi Head of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Tehran will be a turning point in bilateral relations.

Putin is to visit Iran mid October to attend Summit of the Caspian Sea leaders.

Boroujerdi told Russian ambassador to Tehran Alexander Sadovnikov that promotion of the two countries' ties will serve durable peace and stability in the region.

He went on to say that there are vast ground available for mutual cooperation.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the lawmaker pointed to Iran's full cooperation with the IAEA and to the US efforts to tarnish Iran's image and said, "The US gives false information and uses political and economic levers to strain Iranian ties with its neighboring states." He added that timely completion of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant project would remove negative attitude.

Sodovnikov said for his part that his country is determined to accomplish Bushehr project soon.

He also urged parliamentary cooperation and said it would serve cordial ties.
