WASHINGTON (AP) -- New polls suggest President Bush's prime-time speech did little to sway Americans fed up with the Iraq war.
According to a Pew Research Center poll, more than half of those surveyed still favor bringing troops home as soon as possible -- a number that hasn't budged in months.
And nearly half say the president should pull out more troops than what he proposed last week. The president has said force levels would stay at least at 130,000 until next summer.
There were modest improvements in how people viewed military progress. Still, 47 percent said the U.S. will likely fail in Iraq, compared to 42 percent who believe success is likely.
In a separate poll, fewer than a third of those questioned by CBS News were convinced the troop buildup has made things better in Iraq.......
