I want to share two important videos with you today.
"We need to pay attention to them. They're not just
disposable people." - James Gandolfini
On Sunday, HBO premiered 'Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq'.
IAVA served as a resource for this project early in its development, and it's great to see that it's getting a lot of much-deserved attention.
In this powerful documentary, actor James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) sits down
with ten disabled Iraq veterans to talk about the war, their service, and their
'Alive Day' - the day they narrowly escaped death. If you missed this amazing
portrait of ten real-life heroes, you can watch it in its entirety now.
And yesterday, in one of the most significant events in
Washington in years, General David Petreaus, the commander of all ground forces in Iraq, gave his long-awaited testimony to Congress on the state of military operations.
Pro-war and anti-war camps are already using the General's testimony to bolster their own arguments, but you can cut through the spin by watching the recorded testimony yourself. Click here.
After you watch the video, take a minute to tell us what you think .
I hope that you can find some time today to watch these important
videos. Six years after the 9/11 attacks, our country is at one of the most
important moments in its history. Whether you are pro-war or anti-war, for the
surge or against it, your support for our servicemen and women is more important now than ever before. Thank
you for standing with us every day.
Sincerely,
Paul Rieckhoff
