Man indicted in threats against Obama

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in San Francisco on charges that he threatened to kill President Obama and members of his family in an e-mail.

John Gimbel e-mailed a message on Sept. 28 that bore the subject line: "Operation kill big-(epithet)-rig: kill the 'president' (epithet), then write 'fed s-' on his chest with a felt tip,' said the indictment issued Tuesday by the grand jury.

In the e-mail, Gimbel allegedly wrote, "Kill that (epithet) wife of yours, s-mouth; she looks the scuz while you're still f- up."

Later, he added, "Decapitate and (epithet) drag that s-mouth, uppity, filthy (epithet)...do it to his children and family first in front of him. Failure to comply. That'll teach him. You dare fail to comply in front of the people, mr. s-mouth (epithet)," the indictment said.

Gimbel was indicted on charges of threats against the President, threats against the President's immediate family and threats transmitted through interstate communication.

Further details were not released. The case was investigated by the Secret Service.
