DeLay's Worst Nightmare: Tougher Rules

Democratic Representatives Marty Meehan (D-MA) and Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) have introduced legislation that would tighten up the rules regarding lobbying the Congress. Their bill would — among other things — stop front groups from hiding where they get the money to pay for Congressional travel junkets.

That would include the trip Tom DeLay took to Moscow, arranged by embattled super lobbyist Jack Abramoff and ultimately paid for by a Russian company with ties to the national security services.

The bill would also increase disclosure, stop the "revolving door" between Congressional staffs and lobbying shops, and toughen enforcement of the rules. You can learn more about the bill on
Congressman Meehan's web site.
