Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has suspended all contacts with Israel in protest at an Israeli assault on Gaza in which about 100 people have died.
The suspension came amid angry protests in Gaza and clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank.
Israeli PM Ehud Olmert vowed to continue the operation, despite international calls for restraint.
The assault intensified on Saturday, with nearly 70 people killed in one of Gaza's bloodiest days for years.
