Horowitz, FrontPageMag misrepresented CREW statement on Foley emails to suggest "obstruction of justice"
In a press release alleging possible "criminal obstruction of justice" in the Mark Foley scandal, David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com claimed that Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said it has held "incriminating e-mails revealing Foley's sexual misconduct since at least July 2006." In fact, CREW has explicitly stated that it both received the emails and sent them to the FBI on the same day in July. Read more

National Review's Frum suggested Jefferson scandal proves Democrats "have the impulse to protect and shield their own when their own are guilty"
On CNN's Reliable Sources, National Review contributor editor David Frum baselessly suggested that Democrats, unlike Republicans, "have the impulse to protect and shield their own when their own are guilty," comparing the Democrats' response to allegations that Rep. William Jefferson accepted bribes with the Republican leadership's handling of the Foley matter to make his point. Read more

Wash. Post uncritically reported GOP's misleading use of Studds scandal, include no Democratic response

Matthews claimed Dems "don't get" that budget deficits are a "moral issue," declared poll finding that "Democrats are more trusted on moral values" to be "stunning"

Searching for the GOP's silver lining, ABC's Gibson misrepresented his own network's poll
ABC News' Charles Gibson claimed that a poll's finding that "the Foley scandal is dwarfed by other concerns," such as the Iraq war, terrorism, and the economy, "would seem to be good news for Republicans." In fact, the poll also found that, by significant margins, more Americans trust Democrats over Republicans to handle the Iraq war, terrorism, and the economy. Read more

O'Reilly: Like Iran, "the reason North Korea is causing trouble is that it wants to influence the November election"
On the October 9 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill O'Reilly claimed that "the reason North Korea is causing trouble" by allegedly developing and testing nuclear weapons "is that it wants to influence the November election." He added: "That is not a partisan statement. It is a fact," then concluded that North Korea "hate[s] Mr. Bush and want[s] to weaken him as much as possible." Read more

Discussing North Korea's reported nuclear test, Blitzer asked former Clinton officials about how "some Republicans say" Clinton was "duped," did not ask Bush official about Democratic criticism
During separate interviews with former Clinton officials Gov. Bill Richardson and William Cohen, CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked them to respond to what "some Republicans" are saying, that President Clinton was "duped" or committed a "huge blunder" in his negotiations with North Korea. By contrast, in his interview with Bush administration official Christopher Hill, assistant secretary of state, Blitzer did not ask Hill to respond to Democratic criticism of the Bush administration's North Korea policy. Buchanan: Gay "mafia" on Hill "looked upon the pages" as their "personal preserve"
On the October 9 edition of MSNBC's Scarborough Country, MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan, during a discussion about the scandal surrounding former Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL), accused a number of gay staffers and lawmakers associated with the scandal -- including Kirk Fordham, former chief of staff to both Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-NY) and Foley -- of being "this little mafia in there [that] looked upon the pages, I guess, as their -- sort of their personal preserve." Buchanan added that "it stinks to high heaven what was done. And it stinks to high heaven that it was not exposed." However, as Media Matters for America has documented, Fordham has stated that he informed House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert's (R-IL) office of Foley's interaction with underage congressional pages years ago, and another congressional staffer has come forward to corroborate Fordham's account. Read more

Savage: Madeleine Albright is a "traitor" who "should be hung"
On the October 9 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage declared that former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is a "traitor" who "should be tried for treason, and when she's found guilty, she should be hung." Savage called Albright a "traitor" because he said she "went to North Korea" and "came back like [former British Prime Minister Neville] Chamberlain came back and said, 'Chancellor [Adolf] Hitler has told me he simply wants to take a little piece of territory.' " Savage, who also branded former Clinton national security adviser Samuel "Sandy" Berger a "traitor" and referred to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA) as "Nancy Paleolosi, because ... [she] is living in the Paleolithic," added of Albright: "[W]hen she is hung, maybe the other quislings in our government will get the message that we're going to crack down on them." Read more

Hello Kevin,

I like the Adam's quote you use on your blog. Good choice.

Here's some more red hot ink for your pen. Now help me vanquish the sword!

This Foley fiasco has given people the chance to change the make-up of this government, which will ultimately lead to the end of the Bush-Cheney reign. It may not be pretty, but it is a gift, nonetheless. Don't waste this advantage. Use it wisely to end the more pressing problems that face us all.

Want to better understand some of the desperation among top Christian politicos? Want to know what else they are pretending not to know about? Follow the links and read about who I am and what I have to say. Notice that my last name is Page? Think this "page" scandal and other recent events are mere coincidences? Also notice that the "Macaca" incident occurred on my birthday, August 11th. The luck of these duplicitous, arrogant hypocrites has failed and will continue to do so. The timing and ramifications are much worse than most realize yet.

If Christian political leaders are going to go around attacking others for not living up to their professed values, it's a damn good idea to be truthful and actually walk the walk. Logs and motes in the eye, camels through the eye of a needle, glass houses, kettles and pots, and what goes around comes around, et al. Karma's a bitch when She finally decides enough is enough! This wouldn't have been so bad on Republicans if they hadn't been such arrogant hypocrites in order to corner the so-called values voters! Now the "Two Candlesticks" and "Two Witnesses" (Truth and Justice) are "breathing fire" and "raining hailstones!"

Christian Political Leadership, Hypocrisy, Duplicity, and Purposeful Evil

The current scandal involving Congressman Foley is merely the latest in an amazingly long list of blatant deception and duplicity by Republicans and the Christian Right in recent years. While bedeviling us all with their holier-than-thou pretenses, they consistently support and/or perform blatant greed and abominable evil. Never forget the extent of their arrogance over the last two decades and especially the last 6 years. It is beyond amazing that Christians continue to blindly support such obviously blatant scoundrels, even as they are repeatedly exposed going against the most basic of human values. The level of hypocrisy and duplicity boggles the mind. There is no longer any doubt, whatsoever, that Christianity is little more than a purposeful deception used by political and religious leaders to dupe, manipulate, and coerce entire populations into giving them wealth and power, which they always use for greed, injustice, and abominable evils.

The actions of Foley and those who covered up for him directly parallel the actions of scores of priests that have raped innocent children, preyed upon others for centuries, and had their actions hidden and abetted by the Vatican. Now, in eerie repetition of Vatican history, we have a power hungry Christian Emperor (GW) working closely with the Vatican and Judeo-Christian aristocrats to lead crusades in the so-called Holy Land. Furthermore, to leave little doubt about the reality of this assessment, the USA, as the new Holy Roman Empire, is about to legalize the torture it has perpetrated in recent years while steadily reversing many of the democratic and civil freedoms that people gained when the Vatican and royalty lost control of their European empire at the turn of the nineteenth century. Now we see them following the same old path of evil as they strive to cement the status of the USA as the latest proxy Vatican empire. Make no mistake about it, the new dark ages are looming on the horizon unless we do something proactive to prevent it.

Remember that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it!
