Minneapolis Star-Tribune about 1 soldier who died and 25 who were injured at Fort McCoy outside of Tomah, Wisconsin. That was it .. that was the story. Nothing more .. no details ...

A soldier mobilizing at Fort McCoy died and 25 others were hospitalized Monday night, fort officials said.
All the soldiers were in the 237th Engineer Company out of West Point, Va., according to a statement issued by the fort. The unit, part of the Virginia Army National Guard, arrived at Fort McCoy in July to prepare for deployment in Iraq.

The fort's statement gave little information on what happened: One soldier died en route to St. Marys Hospital [AKA The Mayo Clinic...]in Rochester, Minn.

.Weapons of mass destruction: Red Dragon Army exercise

The Fort McCoy Red Dragon training exercise will simulate reacting to weapons of mass destruction over the next two weeks. Local firefighters and volunteer groups will participate in the training on and off base.

“Every year the exercise has helped determine what the capabilities of the units are, and how to continue to integrate the military into the response,” said Lt. Col. Terry Farrell of the Army Reserve Command’s Homeland Defense Division. “The exercise helps us see where the strengths and weaknesses are, and how to train to improve the process.”
