On the November 28 edition of MSNBC's Hardball, host Chris Matthews said of President Bush: "I like him. Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs, maybe on the left." Since polls show that most Americans have an unfavorable view of the president, Matthews is labeling the majority of the populace "whack-jobs." This is only one of several recent examples of Matthews's habit of insulting those with whom he disagrees and of his fawning praise for Bush. Matthews's comments demonstrate his disconnect from the American public.
In recent weeks, Matthews has also said that Bush sometimes "glimmers" with "sunny nobility"; he praised a recent Bush speech as a "brilliant political move" -- before the speech was even delivered. Now he is calling the majority of Americans "whack-jobs" and deriding critics of the Iraq war as "carpers and complainers." Tell MSNBC that Matthews's comments -- coming from the supposedly neutral host of a prime-time news show -- are unacceptable.

It is strange for someone who obviously never met the President to have such a negative reaction about comments made by someone who has. Disagreeing with his political views is fine because you might have read or encountered some of them.

Mathews is all over the map in a rather incoherent rant aimed like a blunderbus, with a round exploding down an unrifled flared barrel with that together may allow the shooter to hit anything inside a fifteen yard radius. Admittedly if the 50 cal ball hit one anywhere, the wound would be terrible and the wounded would most likely die from infection. This is what I fear from Chris Matthews that his words will poison reality so that confusion sets in where once the possibility of truth may have resided. What is there to like about George W. Bush. He lets Cheney and his right wing cabal run the country, he stood by and did nothing as a candidate during the fraud that passed for an election due to the yoeman's effort the news media took to cause confusion and to baffle with utter nonsense. Most telling is when the same news stories in the same order with the same emphasis and frame is a clear indication that they all drink from the same poisoned well of indifference even contempt toward the American people. As if the American people have surrendered to the idea that American politics is now an insider's game and there is nothing anyone can do about it. So I wanted to thank Chris Matthews along with his other unreliable cohorts and remind them that complete irrelevance may be only the next lie away.

Well, to begin with Chris maybe journalists should not allow themselves to be bought off to promote an agenda that is not in America's best interest. Or think about this Chris, maybe journalists should take their responsibility as the Fourth Estate, that protects our freedom with accurate information, seriously. What do you think Chris? Do you think that it is all just nonsense?
