DNC: Bush's Political Attacks Can't Save Sinking Poll Numbers

Democrats Committed to Fighting for the Truth

Washington, DC - Despite President Bush's latest attempts to aggressively
politicize the War in Iraq, the American people are continuing to lose
confidence in his ability to effectively fight terrorism and execute a plan for
success in Iraq. A poll taken, as Bush marked the occasion of Veteran's Day by
launching baseless partisan attacks, showed that the American people are not
buying his divisive political rhetoric.

According to a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll taken over the weekend, "Bush's job-
approval rating sank to a record 37%, down from a previous low of 39% a month
ago." Furthermore, more than 60 percent of Americans disapprove of the way he's
handling the War in Iraq, and "a plurality disapprove of the way Bush is
handling the issue of terrorism."

"This poll shows that the American people are rejecting President Bush's latest
political attacks, including his disgraceful use of Veteran's Day to give a
highly partisan, campaign-style speech," said Democratic National Committee
Press Secretary Josh Earnest. "Democrats believe the best way to support our
troops and keep America safe is to fight for the truth. The President should
abandon his latest divisive public relations offensive, and instead join
Democrats to offer a real strategy for success in Iraq and the War on Terror.
Democrats will fight for the truth because together America can do better."
