Pat Robertson warns of ‘scamsters in religious garb quoting the Bible’

RAW STORY

Just two days after Pat Robertson encouraged bankrupt families to give him “just $20 a month,” the televangelist is now alerting viewers to beware of “scamsters in religious garb quoting the Bible.”
Robertson offered the warning on Tuesday after a 700 Club report about the Profitable Sunrise pyramid investment scheme that lured people in with references to religious scriptures.

“Beware of these scamsters, especially scamsters in religious garb quoting the Bible,” the TV preacher said. “I mean, run from them. They’re all over the place.”
Right Wing Watch noted that the CBN ministry could be in “deep trouble” if “viewers actually followed Robertson’s advice.”

During his Monday broadcast, the network had aired a segment about a couple who continued to donate money to CBN even after declaring bankruptcy and selling their house.
“They were faithful,” Robertson opined at the conclusion of the report. “Listen, there is no way you can out give God. You can’t do it. And that which is given to him will come back 30, 60 and 100 fold.”

“We encourage you to join the 700 Club… It’s just $20 a month. And if all of us do it together, it gets to be millions and millions and millions of dollars!”
