Dad of Iraq war veteran accused of making threats

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - The father of an Iraq war veteran accused of beating his girlfriend to death has been arrested for allegedly threatening 1 of the victim's friends during a courthouse encounter.

Authorities say 54-year-old Mike Needham was arrested for investigation of battery and threatening to terrorize the woman after a confrontation Sept. 26 in a cafeteria at Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana. No charges have yet been filed.

John Wylie Needham is accused of killing Jacqwelyn Joann Villagomez who was found in his San Clemente condo severely beaten over the Labor Day weekend. He has pleaded not guilty.

Authorities say Mike Needham allegedly told a woman who came to court in support of Villagomez that he was going to kill her.
