We tried to scare the voters by pointing out he is a black man. An angry, black man. When that didn't seem to scare people enough we switched to saying he isn't black enough. Even Nader said this. I think our new tactic should be that he is both white and black, but that he has the worst of both races and none of the good. When some of the bigots on our side complain about saying there is anything good about blacks or anything bad about whites tell them that saying this is only a tactic and that we don't really mean it.
Religion has been a big deal in recent elections, which is why we tried to play that card against Obama. Even on this, he's so skinny and makes such a poor target that we couldn't hit him with a no-brainer like religion.
I think part of the problem we are having with this tactic is because we are contradicting each other. One person will try to paint him as a Muslim, because his father was a lapsed Muslim and at the same time, someone else on our side will claim he is a secret practitioner of black liberation theology, which is Christian. At the same time, some on our side are claiming he isn't a Christian or Muslim. The claim is that he is an atheist who is only using religion as a political tool. We are sending out conflicting messages.
None of those claims seem to be having an effect so I say it's time we came together on one claim. I think we should call him a Chrismuslithist. That will cover all bases. People won't know what it means, but they will realize that he "isn't one of us".
During the primary, we tried to paint him as a far-left, radical liberal. We made up stories and pointed to stances he has taken on the issues that were left-of-center. Our Republican and neo-con friends, like Rush (don't ya just love him!), helped push this theme. Unfortunately, it didn't scare off enough voters. I guess too many people were actually paying attention to what Obama was saying to buy into the 'flaming liberal' claim. It's time to shift gears, as we have so many times in this election cycle.
The new meme is that he is not liberal enough. This is kind of like the "not black enough" tactic. If we push this hard enough, maybe we can scare some liberals into voting for McCain instead. After all, McCain is a moderate if you ignore his record on women's issues, foreign affairs, the economy, Supreme Court appointments, etc... Let's keep complaining that Obama is a centrist in the mold of Bill Clinton. Now stay on message. Run to the progressive web sites every time Obama proves he's not a radical and start screaming out the new message.
We've made fools of ourselves far too many times in this election. It's time we got our message straight. Here's the new meme. Use any or all parts of it when posting on progressive sites. You don't need to post it on the good sites, like noquarter or puma.org since we all get it already.
Here it is: Obama is a radical, leftist, liberal, neo-con, Chrismuslithist, black/white, Bill Clinton clone. Get it straight.
