Ecuadorian government asks Colombia for evidence of FARC's wealth in Ecuador

QUITO, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Ecuadorian government Monday asked the Colombian government to hand over evidence about the alleged wealth accumulated by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in Ecuador, local media reported.

"Colombia is obliged to give Ecuador the information about that fact, as suggested by (Colombian) President Alvaro Uribe," Miguel Carvajal, Ecuador's Deputy Defense Minister, said during an interview with a local television network.

"Its obligation is to give us that information to carry out investigations and enforce the law, because illicit activities in Ecuador cannot be tolerated," Carvajal said.

Carvajal said that beyond Uribe's unproved accusations, he also could not understand how Colombia has not been able "to control irregular groups nor trafficking of cocaine" despite its big military budget and the support from the United States.......
