Russia, Iran Ink Accords On Strategic And Economic Ties

Moscow, Dec 14, - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has hailed the outcome of the Tehran-Moscow economic meet here describing it as the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two countries for cooperation and development.

Addressing a gathering of Iranians, he said both the countries have agreed to expand their cooperation in a number of fields such as transportation, tourism, industries, banking, commercial and energy, official IRNA news agency reported Friday.

The two countries signed five agreements of cooperation at the conclusion of the seventh Tehran-Moscow Joint Economic Cooperation Commission session held here Thursday.

Mottaki also said talks are underway with the Russian party for aircraft manufacturing as well as long-term cooperation and support for mutual investment.

Earlier in the day the Iranian minister met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, who called for an early solution to all issues related to Iran's nuclear programme.
