Colbert: I defy other candidates to out-pander me

RAW STORY

Last night was a big one for presidential politics on Comedy Central.

"Tonight, I, Stephen Colbert, am officially announcing that I have decided to officially consider whether or not I will announce that I am running for president of the United States," Colbert proclaimed last night on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, "and I will be making an announcement of that decision very soon, preferably on a more prestigious show."

The fake pundit didn't keep his fans in the dark for long. Moments later on the following broadcast, Colbert's own Colbert Report, he was forthcoming about his would-be presidential bid.

"After nearly 15 minutes of soul-searching, I have heard the call," Colbert said into the camera. "Nation, I shall seek the office of the president of the United States! I am doing it!"

Colbert doesn't want to waste his efforts running nation-wide. He plans to focus on his native South Carolina, where he is entering into both the Republican and Democratic primaries. Colbert is running, he insists, as South Carolina's "favorite son."

"I am from South Carolina, I am for South Carolina," Colbert said, "and I defy any other candidate to pander more to the people of South Carolina, those beautiful, beautiful people."

Possible running mates for Colbert include former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and Russian President Vladimir Putin.......
