Lawmakers Forgive Fox Remark

WASHINGTON (AP) - Mexico President Vicente Fox won forgiveness from a Senate immigration panel Tuesday for remarks about American blacks but didn't escape criticism of his efforts to stem illegal border crossings.

"I think the American media is always critical of any time a comment is made that might be considered insensitive. I don't think he intended harm," Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said outside a hearing of the Senate immigration subcommittee.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said Fox "recognized how unhelpful those comments were" and "I'll take him at his word." Cornyn is the subcommittee chairman.

Spoken by two Southern White Redneck's.
