Democrats may be able to lay claim to being the first channel on the Web dedicated to their political cause.
DemsTV.com, a new Web Video Show, produced by and featuring Democratic bloggers, consultants, and activists, is a cross between a political talk show and a game show. It was founded by Democratic media consultant Daniel Manatt, and is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, Air America Radio or the Gore TV venture.
The show will air for the first time on Tuesday at noon Eastern. While it may not receive a significant audience, it's interesting to note because it's the first attempt at getting bloggers video face-time.
"The power of the blog is the ability for anyone to publish their ideas to the entire world," said Jonah Seiger, DemsTV.com executive producer. "Sunday talk is getting stale. Crossfire has been cancelled. DemsTV aims to inform, entertain, and inspire democrats to make their voices heard in new and innovative ways."
It was only a matter of time that bloggers would bring their text to visual life, and take advantage of the low-cost production and distribution of video.
It was a couple of years ago that the popularity of reality TV and the Web culture appeared to be fusing together, and creating a generation that would long for recognition and a political voice.
